GMail, Move to Label, Now Working Like Email Folders

Continuing my previous post "How to Create Folders in GMail", I just want to say, "Labels in GMail is now working exactly like folders in Email Client".

In GMail Web interface, now moving emails to a particular folder (i.e. GMail Label) is that easy.

Just open the email or select multiple emails then from the drop-down "Move To", select the folder (GMail Label) to which you want to move the email(s). The following action will be performed sequentially,

- Selected Email(s) will be applied with the corresponding label and
- Archived

Easy? try it now. go to: GMail

Tip: To select multiple emails in GMail Web, hold Shift key while selecting. You can select multiple groups too.

Black GMail Skin or GMail V2?

Take a look at the Screen-shot,

It is a Greasemonkey skin for GMail. Try it now! Few days back I got this link from my friend.

It works only on Firefox, download new black Gmail skin here and the latest version of Firefox3 here!

After installing, GoTo: Tools --> Better Gmail 2... and play with the options.

PS: No need to install Greasemonkey for this GMail Skin.

Update:

GMail is now updated with their own set of themes, read about GMail Themes here!

To add theme to your GMail account, go to "Settings" and search for "Themes" tab

How to Create Folders in GMail Web Interface

Everyone know that GMail is one of the best solution for processing emails, especially emails with high attachment (GMail now supports 20 MB of attachment). But most of them complaint about one many drawback in its online interface, yes, we can’t create folders in GMail. But after a small research with GMail, I managed to find a solution of this problem.

I don’t know whether you know about this, but I just wanted to share this information with everyone.

Here is the actual solution:

First create labels as per your requirement
Next, select the email(s) that you want to transfer to a folder
After selecting it, apply the label that you want
After that “archive” it

That’s all! Your emails will be now segregated into folders :) navigate to each end every label, as if you are using folders.

Hope this small piece of information will help, but the easiest way it to configure it to outlook or outlook express or any email client and segregate it to folders… ;)

Update:

Now you can create nested labels. Like folder inside folder, you can have label inside label. Now it is even simple to categories and store your emails.

To enable "Nested Labels" got to "Setting" on top-right corner of your online Gmail inbox and click on "Labs" and enable "Nested Labels" and save

Settings --> Labs --> Enable Nested Labels --> Save --> :-)

and this is how you create nested labels:

"Add slashes (/) to label names to express inheritance. For example, if you want a Home label with two child labels named Kids and Shopping, create the three following labels: Home, Home/Kids and Home/Shopping."
